When to trade (and when not to) on XAU/USD
XAU/USD is active 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. But not all hours are equal. There are times of day when liquidity is high, moves are clean and setups work better. And times when the market is flat, unpredictable or a trap. Knowing when to trade is half the job.
Il 90% of significant moves on XAU/USD happen during the London and New York sessions — particularly during the overlap (15:30–17:30 CEST). Outside these windows, the risk of fakeouts increases considerably.

3. Moments to absolutely avoid
NFP, CPI, Powell's speech, Fed rate decision — during these events XAU/USD can move $20-50 in a few seconds unpredictably. In the 15 minutes before and after the news: no trades. If you have open positions, consider closing them or moving them to BE before the news.
The market reopens Sunday at 23:00 CET (during standard time). The first 1-2 hours have low volatility and higher spreads. Wait for Monday morning for the Asian session and especially London.
After 18:00 on Friday, liquidity collapses. Many institutional players close positions before the weekend. Moves can be exaggerated and unrepresentative. Reduce your exposure or close open positions.

5. The weekly trading plan
- Sunday evening: H4 XAUUSD analysis, structure and bias for the week. 20 minutes.
- Every morning (08:30): Update the H4 analysis. Read the day's macro calendar (xauelite.com homepage).
- 09:00: Watch the London Open. Observe the first 15 minutes without entering.
- 09:30—11:00: First trading window. Look for setups on H1/M15 consistent with the H4 bias.
- 15:15: Prepare the setup for the NY Open. Update H1 zones and structure.
- 15:30—17:30: Main window. Maximum attention. The best setups of the week are born here.
- 18:00: If you've hit your target, close MT5. Don't chase more trades.
- Evening: Update the journal. Prepare the analysis for the next day.
